A Mid Term Review of MPP9 was conducted between Monday 1st of June - Friday, 2nd July, 2010. The EU Team for the Review exercise consisted of four members, namely; Mr. Hans Eriksson, the Team Leader; Dr. Ben, the Rural Development Expert; Mrs Hannatu Yaro, Gender Specialist and Engr. Francis Ikwueme, the Engineer.
The visits to all the 17 LGAs participating in MPP9 in the state took place between April and May 2010. The meetings discusses – reports on IMPACT forms submitted by communities, Project Designs; 25% counterpart funding from the LGAs, nature of LGA contribution to community projects, amongst other key issues. The State Launch workshop was organized to create an opportunity for stakeholders to be fully clarified about their roles in Project planning and financing. The Launch workshop for Ondo State was held on Wednesday, 18th November, 2009 at the Owena International Motel, Akure. The State Launch workshop was the third in the series to be held in the 9 Niger Delta States, after Cross-river and Rivers States. The workshop began with an opening address by the Deputy Governor of Ondo State – Alhaji Alli Olanusi, who represented the Governor at the event. This was followed by the speech of the MPP9 Team Leader – Mrs Margaret Hammer, represented by Mrs. Tammie Kammonke.
The MPP9 programme was introduced to the ondo State Government on the 16th of July, 2009. Disclosing to the Ondo State Governor – Olusegun Mimiko in Akure, Mr Ramon Maria Reigada Granda, the Head of Rural, Social, Health and Water and Sanitation Unit of the Delegation of the European Commission to Nigeria, explained the mode of operation of the Programme and the involvement of the LGA in the project funding to the tune of 25%. This he said will engender good governance and transparency. Also speaking, the Minister of National Planning represented by Mr A. A Taiwo, Deputy Director International Cooperation Department expressed hope the programme will empower at least 70,000 rural dwellers in Ondo State and meet the infrastructural needs of about 123 communities.
