REPORT OF THE ONDO STATE LAUNCH WORKSHOP PDF Print E-mail

The State Launch workshop was organized to create an opportunity for stakeholders to be fully clarified about their roles in Project planning and financing. The Launch workshop for Ondo State was held on Wednesday, 18th November, 2009 at the Owena International Motel, Akure. The State Launch workshop was the third in the series to be held in the 9 Niger Delta States, after Cross-river and Rivers States. The workshop began with an opening address by the Deputy Governor of Ondo State – Alhaji Alli Olanusi, who represented the Governor at the event. This was followed by the speech of the MPP9 Team Leader – Mrs Margaret Hammer, represented by Mrs. Tammie Kammonke.

Other speeches delivered at the occasion were from the State Team Leader – Dr. Comfort Adedoyin and the Special Adviser to the Governor on Inter governmental Affairs and Multi lateral Relations Unit (IA&MRU) – Dr. Pius Osunyinkanmi. A good will message came from the Special Assistant to the Governor on Community Development and NGO Matters and some other  individuals. There were power point presentations at the workshop by the State Team Leader which dwelt on MPP9, its Stakeholders and their Roles, Gender Mainstreaming in MPP9 by Tammie Kammomke. A total of about 110 participants attended the workshop.

Dignitaries at the State Launch included: Alhaji Olanusi Alli, Deputy Governor, Speaker and Deputy Speaker of the State House of Assembly (both had to leave before the actual commencement of the launch to attend to other pressing issues); Special Adviser IA&MRU; Commissioner for Economic Planning and Budget; Commissioner for Community Development & Cooperative Services; Representative of traditional Rulers; Special Adviser to Governor on Infrastructure, Director, Ministry of Economic Planning and Budget; Ministry of Local Government & Chieftaincy Affairs; SA to Governor on Community Development & NGO matters; IFAD Office, Akure; Representatives of Chairmen of Local Government; NGOs and CSOs; Media (State and National):  Television, Radio and Print; HODs of Community Development Unit of 17 LGAs; Ondo State Oil Producing Areas Development Company (OSOPADEC); PMU Representatives; Edo State Team Leader and ONDO DMU Staff. The workshop also gave more visibility to the programme in the state, as more and more people have been contacting the office for information on MPP9 since then.
